Cancer Research U.K. Walk 2004.
Napton to Warwick - 14.5 miles.

This walk was originally to take place in September 2003. However, as many of the regular walkers were unable to take part on that date it was decided to reschedule it to Saturday, 24th April 2004, and, in view of the beautiful weather the 30 plus walkers enjoyed, it was an excellent decision.

As in recent years it was again to be a two canal walk, starting from Napton, near Southam, located to the east of Leamington Spa.  The walk started from the Bridge Inn at Napton and went along the Oxford Canal until the Grand Union Canal was reached. The route then followed the Grand Union Canal to the outskirts of Warwick. Here, after crossing the aqueduct over the River Avon, the walk continued alongside the River Avon and through St Nicholas's Park before acending the hill into Warwick. Here refreshments were enjoyed at the Warwickshire County Council Staff Club, which, as in previous years, had agreed to open its doors early for the benefit of walkers and the charity.

Details of the route, distances and anticipated times, which proved to be surprisingly accurate are given below.
